Bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy are fundamental procedures in haematology, providing critical diagnostic information about the bone marrow's composition, cellularity and the nature of any malignant infiltration. At Dr. Joshi's Cancer Centre, these procedures are performed under local anaesthesia with appropriate analgesia. Material obtained is sent for morphology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and molecular studies as clinically required. Bone marrow biopsy is essential in diagnosing leukaemia (ALL, AML, CML, CLL), lymphoma staging, myeloma assessment, aplastic anaemia evaluation, myelodysplastic syndromes and investigation of unexplained cytopenias. Dr. Joshi's DM Haematology training makes him especially experienced in interpreting and acting on bone marrow findings.
