Oral Chemotherapy Management

Not all chemotherapy requires intravenous administration. Several effective agents are available in oral form, allowing patients to take their treatment at home while maintaining regular check-ups. At our centre, oral chemotherapy regimens include Capecitabine (breast, colorectal, gastric cancer), Temozolomide (glioblastoma, melanoma), oral Etoposide (small cell lung, lymphoma), Hydroxyurea (CML, myeloproliferative disorders) and Melphalan (myeloma). While the convenience of oral therapy is significant, these drugs are still potent and require careful monitoring: regular blood counts, renal and liver function, and assessment for side effects such as hand-foot syndrome (Capecitabine) or myelosuppression. Dr. Joshi reviews every patient on oral chemotherapy regularly and is available for urgent advice if side effects develop.
